Maïza Dubhé

Maïza has completed her training in Acting and Physical Theater at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, as well as with master teachers like John Strasberg and Robert Favreau. She has worked onstage (Waiting For the Parade (Spade Theatre)), on TV and film ( Le client a toujours raison webseries, Forgive Me Father (MAD Resilience Films), for which she received a nomination for Best International Ensemble Cast along her co-cast members at the Flagler Film Festival).

Having a special interest in devising, she also started to create work for herself as a co-writer/choreographer (Iza the Brave (FringeKids Fest), Brain Storm (Lucid Ludic) who received the Cutting Edge Award at the Toronto Fringe Fest and the Outstanding Ensemble, Production, and Direction from NOW Magazine in 2017.

 

She explores the physical translations of life and human connections through Film and Photography in her current projects. Her latest short film, 8x8, in which she's also the lead character is currently touring the festivals circuit. So far, it's been screened in Australia, Brasil, Europe and North America and received nominations for Best Experimental and Best Micro Short Film at the Cinema on the Bayou and Milledgeville-Eatonton Film Festivals.

 

Maïza a complété sa formation en jeu et théâtre physique, notamment au Stella Adler Studio of Acting à New York, ainsi qu'auprès de professeurs renommés, tels que John Strasberg et Robert Favreau. Elle a travaillé en tant qu'actrice sur scène (Waiting For the Parade (Spade Theatre)), dans des projets films et télé (la série web Le client a toujours raison, Pardonnez-moi mon père (MAD Resilience Films) pour lequel elle et ses partenaires ont reçu une nomination pour meilleure distribution internationale au Flagler Film Festival).

Ayant un intérêt particulier pour la création et l'expérimentation, elle a fait ses débuts en tant que co-auteur/créatrice/chorégraphe (Iza the Brave (FringeKids Fest) et Brain Storm (Lucid Ludic), qui a remporté le Cutting Edge Award au Toronto Fringe Fest en 2017, ainsi que le titre de meilleure production, mise en scène et distribution par le NOW Magazine.

 

Elle développe actuellement ses projets sur film où elle explore le mouvement et ce qu'il peut nous révéler sur les relations humaines. Son court-métrage intitulé 8x8 et dans lequel elle est la protagoniste, fait présentement la tournée des festivals. À date, il a été présenté en Australie, au Brésil, en Europe et Amérique du Nord et a été en nomination en tant que meilleur film expérimental et meilleur micro métrage aux festivals Cinema on the Bayou et Milledgeville-Eatonton.
